Preparation: Your Challenge Vows
Please read and review these guidelines PRIOR to January 2, 2023.
Congratulations on taking this big next step on your road to life-long, joy-filled health.
As we embark on this 21-day road together, here are some “vows,” if you will, that I’d like for us to make in order for us to set a safe, supportive and empowering environment for our time together. After all, this challenge was created to help you courageously deep-dive into your subconscious brain, and to better understand your beliefs and where they came from. It’s also designed to help you get to know your incredible body, how it talks to you, and how to love it with pride and conviction.
I kindly ask you to sit with these vows, journal about them, and integrate them into your thoughts before we begin together on January 2nd. Feel free to come back to them anytime you need them as well. When you feel ready, please ADD YOUR NAME in the comments section below (and if you’d rather remain anonymous, feel free to comment: “I affirm” instead). This will act as your “signature” to commit you to these important three weeks together. Let’s dig in!
Vow #1:
I commit to the health and healing of my whole being. I understand that the road to healing is rarely a linear path, and there is often no final destination. In fact, healing evokes old patterns, behaviors, and belief systems that can be challenging to face. During this challenge, I choose to dive in and sift through these more difficult aspects of myself rather than fighting them away. And I choose to do so with self-compassion, patience and love.
Vow #2:
I understand that this program is NOT a weight loss program, but rather a self-empowerment and self-exploration program designed to help me learn how to achieve balance in health for my whole life. By taking this challenge, I am choosing to explore the possibility of self-compassion, self-acceptance and feeling good as my barometers of health and wellness.
Vow #3:
I acknowledge that REST is as critical to my health as action and activity. I promise to honor my body’s cues for rest and slowness.
Vow #4:
If a challenging or triggering topic comes up for me during this challenge, I will honor whatever I need in that moment, even if it means putting the topic away and coming back to it at a later time when I am ready. I promise to be open-hearted during this process, while also not pushing myself past where I can comfortably grow and expand.
Vow #5:
As I journey through this program, I promise to nourish my body as best as I currently know how. I will not skip meals, and I will stay hydrated, I will move my body in ways that feel fun and comfortable, and I will get as much sleep as I am reasonably able. (Read more about building well-balanced meals here)
Vow #6:
I will do my best to stay mindful of my thoughts and mindset throughout this challenge. I am bravely learning to accept that I am worthy of being healthy, I am capable of taking the steps to get there, and I am allowed to be happy and to choose health every day, regardless of my external circumstances.
Vow #7:
My relationship to food and eating is intimate, as is my relationship to my body. I am choosing to explore new ways of being and loving in relation to both of these aspects of myself and daily living.
Vow #8:
I acknowledge that my journey is mine to own, regardless of past experiences or past people who may have impacted it. I choose to accept my current path without holding anyone else to “blame” for where I find myself. By doing so, I activate my power and reclaim my ability to change my path if I choose.
Vow #9:
Melanie is my trusted guide during this process, but I am the explorer. I understand that I must learn to practice the information presented to me on a day-to-day basis and take responsibility for the time I invest into this program. I will get out of it as much as I choose to put in.
Vow #10:
I am right where I need to be, in exactly the right body, home, emotional state and place in my life that I need to be to best receive this information and this new way to approach my health. I need nothing more, and no less than what I have now in order to choose my health and my happiness. And I choose so with confidence and love.
Thank you for choosing this challenge, and for choosing you, your health and your right to live an abundant, happy life.
I am so looking forward to taking this journey with you!
